Turban Trend

There's something elegant and exotic about wearing a turban. It creates an element of sophistication to any look. Today women are seen fashioning their turbans for all occasions including effortless street wear looks to red carpet events.  Referring back to the history of the turban, women and men have been wearing them since the 17th century. However, in the early 20th century it was fashion designer Paul Poiret who presented the turban into the western fashion scene.  We have seen the turban trend reoccur continuously since.

What I love about the turban is that it is so easy to put together yet creates such a strong statement. Either use a scarf or a strip of fabric, wrap it around your head a couple of times, tie a knot and finally tuck in ends and you're done! Today, you can find affordable turbans in all sorts of fabric, allowing you to move the trend between seasons. I have styled some looks based around the turban trend below for you to reference.

I particularly love to style the same coloured turban and dress, especially for a formal occasion. You can introduce other colours through your accessories. I have done this in my below look. However,  in saying this, I do love how effortlessly cool a patterned turban can add to a casual look. The clash can add a lot of edge.

Casual in Creepers

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you my new Creepers. It is not often that I am seen in any footwear other than heels. I have had my eye on the creeper trend for a while now and finally gave into my urges. My wedge creepers in this post are from online store Oasap.com. I found it an easier transition to go from heels to “wedge creepers” rather than the traditional flat style creeper for obvious reasons.
I was curious about the origin of this very popular shoe. After researching on Wikipedia, I discovered the very interesting history of creepers. They came about post World War II. Soldiers wore suede boots and hard-wearing crepe soles for when they were based  in the deserts in North Africa because of the climate and environment. Many ex-soldiers after leaving the army were seen in nightspots in London wearing the same crepe-soled shoes, this is when the shoe became known as 'brothel creepers.'
The creeper regained popularity in the early 1970's amongst the Rocker inspired fashion scene. The shoe continues to be popular and has been adopted by many subcultures including indie, punk, goth and Japanese Visual Kei to name a few. Due to the revival of the grunge culture, creepers are now seen on the mainstream fashion scene.
I styled my wedge creepers very casually in my look below. I am looking forward to wearing them in summer with denim shorts and a casual tee. I love that my wedge creepers, like heels, still add a couple of centimetres to my height.... I'll take anything I can get.
I have styled some 'Creeper' inspired looks for you  to reference below. All creepers in this post are from www.oasap.com  They have a variety of different styles available and are priced very well!!  I love how comfortable mine are! Check out their range of creeper's here:

Who's that girl? It's Jess!

Hi everyone! I apologise for being a phantom over the past week, I have been a little unwell and had some computer free time. The positive side of being sick in bed was that I could catch up on my favourite TV series. I thought I'd dedicate this post to one of my favourite shows at the moment, New Girl. Along with many others I have fallen in love with the 'New Girl' leading lady Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel. Jess is a clumsy, open hearted, generous and quirky teacher who has an incredibly cute style. Her style reminds me of Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf's with a touch of retro/vintage.

With her sixties inspired eye make-up and voluminous hair Jess is often seen in bold, rich colours and loves to combine clashed prints. Her ensembles include short and flouncy dresses or skirts layered with ruffled shirts and preppy cardigans. Jess finishes off every outfit with chic ballet flats always matching perfect in colour to her complete look.

I have styled a New Girl inspired look below. This outfit makes me feel fun, youthful, quirky and happy. I love how clothes can impact your feelings and unleash a hidden persona in you. I  have styled some Jess inspired looks for you at the bottom of this post.

I encourage you all to check out 'New Girl.'
